PM Surya Ghar: Significant progress is being made under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana across Madhya Pradesh, including its capital, Bhopal. The primary goal of this initiative is to alleviate the financial burden of electricity bills for consumers by facilitating the installation of solar panels. This program not only promises substantial savings for users but also encourages the adoption of renewable energy sources. In areas where solar panels are deployed, smart meters—superior to traditional digital meters—will be installed.
An official from the Central Zone Electricity Distribution Company, informed media that consumers will have the option to install panels based on the Schedule of Rate (SOR), ensuring that payments made to vendors are advantageous. The authority to install solar panels up to 10 kilowatts has now been delegated to Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers, streamlining the process for consumers. Previously, installation could take up to a month, but efforts are now being expedited.
Aim of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana aims to provide affordable and reliable electricity to the economically disadvantaged and middle-class citizens of the nation. Through this scheme, the government enables citizens to install solar panels, potentially saving them over ₹8000 annually on their electricity bills. Additionally, a significant advantage of this initiative is its role in promoting renewable energy, which is beneficial for the environment. In locations where solar panels are installed, advanced smart meters will replace traditional digital meters, offering consumers precise data on their electricity usage.
This feature allows consumers to monitor their consumption closely and take necessary actions to reduce unnecessary usage, leading to further savings on their electricity bills. Overall, this initiative marks a substantial step forward in advancing solar energy utilization in the country. This scheme will not only provide cheap and clean energy to the consumers, but it will also be a positive step towards the environment.
