PMJAY Scheme: Big news for elders people in India. Now the BJP-led Central Government has launched a big scheme for elder people. Today we are going to discuss Pradhanmantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), the family gets free health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh per year. This scheme is for the poor and weaker sections of the country. The scheme was launched on September 23, 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ranchi, Jharkhand. It is the world’s largest health scheme, which aims to provide free health facilities to more than 12 crore poor and vulnerable families, or about 55 crore people.
There is no limit to the size, age, or gender of the family to avail of this scheme. Under the scheme, the beneficiary gets cashless treatment. 3 days pre-hospitalization and 15 days post-hospitalization expenses are covered. Recently, on the occasion of Ayurveda Day, people aged 70 years or more have also been included in this scheme. The scope of this scheme includes medicines, treatment fees, doctor fees, and OT-ICU fees.
How do I check the hospitals linked to the scheme?
Visit the official website of the National Health Authority (NHA), nha.gov.in. Click on the PMJAY for 70+ icon on the homepage. When the page opens, click on the List of Empanelled Hospitals icon, and then you can see the complete list of hospitals.
How to make an Ayushman Bharat card
To take advantage of the scheme, make an Ayushman card and link it to the Aadhaar card. To get an Ayushman card, go to the health center or public service center. Fill out the application form here and submit it with a copy of your Aadhaar card and a passport-size photo. The concerned officer will issue the Ayushman card after checking the documents, which can be obtained from the center itself.
How do I apply for the Senior Citizen Scheme?
Under the scheme, senior citizens can apply online through NHA’s website or the Ayushman app to take advantage of the scheme. For this, login to the official website nha.gov.in of the National Health Authority (NHA). Verify by filling out the registered mobile number, captcha, and OTP. Fill in the state, district name, and Aadhaar card number by clicking on the PMJAY for 70+ icon on the page that opens. Complete KYC with the OTP number registered in the Aadhaar card and upload the latest photo. Within 15 minutes, the card will be displayed, which can be downloaded and printed.
