The portal for adding names to the National Food Security Scheme opened on January 26. Hitesh Joshi, the District Logistics Officer, mentioned that as part of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, there will be a campaign to include families and individuals in Chittorgarh district who are missing out on the NFS benefits, especially those from vulnerable tribal groups.
To get your name added to the Food Security Scheme, you need to apply through e-Mitra on the online portal. There are specific eligibility criteria for inclusion.
Who’s Not Eligible
Families where any member pays income tax, has a regular job, works as a government or semi-government officer, or receives a pension over one lakh are not eligible. Also, families that own a four-wheeler, have a pucca residential or commercial property over 1000 sq. feet in Municipal Corporation or Municipal Council areas (excluding slums), or have an annual income exceeding one lakh, as well as those with large agricultural land, won’t qualify for the scheme.
Priority Groups for Inclusion
The scheme prioritizes Antyodaya families, BPL families, State BPL families, beneficiaries of the Annapurna Yojana, families benefiting from the Chief Minister Jeevan Raksha Kosh, residents of government hostels, single women, registered construction workers, orphanages, old-age homes, leprosy ashrams, ragpicker families, families affected by the Uttarakhand tragedy, cycle rickshaw drivers, porters, leprosy patients, and those who are leprosy-free. It also includes nomadic and semi-nomadic communities like Banbagaria, Gadiya blacksmiths, sheep herders, traditional tribal families with Forest Rights Certificates, small farmers, and families holding Aastha cards.
