Diwali, Chhath Puja Special Trains: Ahead of Diwali and Chhath Puja, there is good news for railway passengers. Due to the festival rush, Indian Railways has decided to run more than 200 special trains. Yes, you’ve heard right. Actually, Western Railway has decided to run 200 special trains, keeping in mind the festive season of Diwali and Chhath Puja.

Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer, Vineet Abhishek, said, Around 40 of these trains will be operated by the Mumbai division, which will travel to major destinations like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha. According to the press release, these special trains are being operated to meet the growing demand of passengers. The 22 trains of the Mumbai division are especially important for passengers of North and East India.

Additional services will be monitored at the divisional and headquarters levels so that all arrangements can run smoothly. Coordination will be done by senior officials for the safety and convenience of passengers. To manage the travel rush during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Western Railway has deployed additional staff at major stations. High-traffic stations like Bandra Terminus, Surat, Udhna, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad are being given special attention.

Railways eye on passenger safety

A holding area with a capacity of 600 passengers has also been created in the eastern circulating area of Bandra Terminus. A public announcement system has been set up in the region to inform passengers about the schedule of the train. This holding area helps passengers board the train and reduces congestion on platforms. Similar holding areas are also available at Udhna and Surat stations. Additional waiting area has been created at Surat station, while licensed helpers have been deployed between Udhna and Surat. Information banners and stands have also been put up to provide timely information to the passengers.
