Finally the wait is over. The Department of Telecommunications has introduced the Sanchar Sathi app, which is now accessible for both Android and iOS users, allowing anyone to download and use it for free. Previously, Sanchar Sathi was available as a portal that could be accessed on laptops, desktops, or mobile phones across the country.
With the new app, users can more easily file complaints related to the Sanchar Sathi portal. The launch was officiated by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
What’s new in the Sanchar Sathi App?
The app retains all the services offered on the portal, but it also includes new features. Mobile users can now report issues such as cyber fraud, fake calls, and AI-related concerns. The Sanchar Sathi portal was initially launched in 2023, enabling users to verify mobile numbers linked to their Aadhaar cards and block them if necessary. According to Jyotiraditya Scindia, the app aims to enhance safe telecom practices among users.
A vast user base
Over 9 crore individuals have accessed the Sanchar Sathi portal. From the complaints submitted, approximately 2.75 crore fraudulent mobile connections have been identified, and more than 25 lakh lost or stolen devices have been recovered.
Over 1.2 million WhatsApp accounts associated with cybercrime have been shut down. Additionally, around 1.2 million bank accounts linked to financial fraud have also been closed. This initiative has played a significant role in curbing fraudulent international calls, thanks to a collaborative campaign with central agencies.
Downloading the Sanchar Saathi App is a breeze! Android users can easily find it on the Google Play Store, while iOS users can get it from the Apple App Store. You can also scan the QR code available on the Sanchar Saathi website to download the app. Alternatively, just head directly to the Play Store or Apple Store. Once downloaded, simply log in using your mobile number.
