Sasta Ghar: This presents a significant opportunity to purchase an affordable home in Delhi. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is offering discounts of up to 25% on home purchases. However, eligibility for this offer is limited. Recently, the DDA has initiated a special camp to assist beneficiaries under the ‘Sasta Ghar’ scheme, which has received approval from Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena. The primary goal of the DDA Sasta Ghar Yojana is to facilitate home ownership for the general public.
Sasta Ghar Yojana
This initiative provides housing at reduced prices for various categories of citizens. Eligible beneficiaries under the ‘Sasta Ghar’ scheme will receive a special 25% discount on their home purchases, but this benefit is restricted to specific groups. The eligible categories include construction workers, auto and taxi drivers, women, Veer Naris (widows of military personnel), former military personnel, Gallantry and Arjuna Award winners, persons with disabilities, and individuals from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST).
In Delhi, these special camps are being set up at construction sites managed by the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, including DMRC, NCRTC, CPWD, and NHAI project locations. The aim of these camps is to extend the benefits of the scheme to laborers, workers, and slum residents.
To ensure the effective operation of the camps, DDA officials will be present at each site to provide necessary information and application forms related to the scheme. Nodal officers from the relevant departments and the DDA will supervise the camp operations. These camps commenced on Saturday. All departments are required to submit a report on their outreach activities to the Chief Secretary within 15 days, which will then be reviewed by the Lieutenant Governor.
The DDA is a statutory authority responsible for the planning, development, and management of urban infrastructure in Delhi, and this scheme is part of its commitment to providing affordable housing for economically disadvantaged groups.
