SBI Asmita: On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2025, the country’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has launched a very special scheme for women. This scheme called ‘SBI Asmita’ is dedicated to women entrepreneurs, in which loans will be made available at low interest rates without any guarantee. This scheme will prove to be a boon for women who want to start their dream business but are left behind due to financial constraints.
Flying the dreams of women entrepreneurs
This new scheme of SBI aims to empower women entrepreneurs and make them self-reliant. This scheme has been launched at a time when a TransUnion CIBIL report has revealed that women show less interest in taking business loans. Instead, they prefer to borrow for personal or consumption purposes.
According to the report, only 3 percent of the loans taken by women were for business purposes, of which 42 percent were for personal finance products such as personal loans, consumer durable loans, and homeowners, and 38 percent were taken against gold.

Salient points of the scheme
SBI Chairman CS Setty said that this new scheme will provide fast and easy financing to women-led micro, small, and medium enterprise units through a digital and self-initiated process. The bank’s MD Vinay Tonse described the scheme as a blend of technological innovation and social engineering.
Nari Shakti Platinum Debit Card
Apart from this, SBI has also introduced the Nari Shakti Platinum Debit Card powered by RuPay, a card specially designed for women. The scheme will cater to the needs of women in various fields.
