SBI Cardholders Alert: From April 1, 2025, SBI Card is rolling out new amendments to its reward points scheme, which will affect various transactions, especially online purchases and travel reservations. These changes will apply to the SimplyCLICK SBI Card, Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card, and Air India SBI Signature Credit Card. If you hold a card, you must know these modifications so that you can earn maximum reward points before they are implemented.
Less Reward Points on Swiggy Orders
One of the changes involves SimplyCLICK SBI Card customers who shop for food online frequently. From April 1, 2025, Swiggy transactions will earn 5X reward points only as compared to the old 10X points. But other e-commerce sites, such as Apollo 24X7, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, Dominos, IGP, Myntra, Netmeds, and Yatr, will still provide 10X reward points for shopping through the SimplyCLICK SBI Card.
Less Reward Points for Air India Ticket Bookings
SBI Card has also decreased the reward points for buying tickets for Air India flights. From March 31, 2025, cardholders applying for the Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card and Air India SBI Signature Credit Card will receive fewer reward points when booking tickets through the Air India website or mobile application.
For Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card customers, the reward scheme has taken a severe hit. Earlier, customers got 15 reward points for every ₹100 spent, and now they will get only 5 points for every ₹100. In the same vein, Air India SBI Signature Credit Card customers will get 10 reward points for every ₹100 spent, down sharply from the earlier 30 points for every ₹100.
Discontinuation of Complimentary Insurance Coverage
Another substantial alteration is the cancellation of free insurance benefits. On July 26, 2025, SBI Card is halting its Air Accident Insurance Cover of ₹50 lakh and the Rail Accident Insurance Cover of ₹10 lakh for cardholders. SBI Credit Card customers will henceforth not enjoy free insurance cover associated with their cards.
What These Changes Mean for SBI Cardholders
With fewer reward points on Swiggy and Air India purchases and the elimination of free insurance cover, SBI Credit Card customers will enjoy fewer benefits than before. The developments emphasize the need to review revised reward policies and redeem points before any cuts can be implemented.
If you hold an SBI Credit Card, it is best you revisit your strategy on spending and possibly switch to a different credit card that still gives higher insurance coverage and reward points.
