Good news for state government employees. The wait is finally over for employees who have been looking forward to a boost in their dearness allowance. A 4% increase has just been announced, which is a fantastic start to the new year for them.
The West Bengal government has officially raised the DA by 4%, a much-needed adjustment for workers. Finance Minister Bhattacharya shared the news, stating that this new dearness allowance will kick in on April 1, 2025. With this change, the DA will rise from 14% to 18%, positively impacting countless employee families.
This announcement from the Finance Minister marks a significant move by the government to help ease the burden of inflation. Just recently, the Central Government also provided a nice perk to employees with an income tax exemption. So, this DA increase feels like a double treat for everyone.
For employees, the dearness allowance is a crucial part of their overall salary. The DA hike is essential since it directly affects their earnings. When payday arrives, the basic salary is the largest component, and the DA, which adjusts for inflation, is a key part of that, alongside other allowances like HRA and TA.
Central government workers are really looking forward to news about the DA hike. Just before Holi, they’re set to receive a nice boost in their dearness allowance. The All India Consumer Price Index data is still pending. Once the December figures are released, the increase in the employees’ dearness allowance will be officially confirmed. Right now, we only have data up to November, and based on those numbers, a three percent increase seems pretty much guaranteed.
