Big news for ration card holders. Now the state govt takes big decisions regarding ration cards. In Uttar Pradesh, a significant number of ration cards have been revoked following the e-KYC process, with Moradabad witnessing the cancellation of 9,000 cards alone. The immediate cancellation occurred upon the detection of fraud in the e-KYC verification for each unit. Conversely, approximately 28,000 new beneficiaries have been added to the free ration scheme, which is nearly three times the number of canceled cards. Notably, Moradabad ranks third in the state for e-KYC completion.

Gorakhpur district leads the state in scrutinizing ration consumers, followed by Shravasti in second place. Sambhal district, part of the Moradabad division, is also among the top ten districts in Uttar Pradesh, ranking ninth in e-KYC assessments. During a verification campaign led by the District Supply Officer in Moradabad, it was discovered that thousands of cardholders were filing income tax returns, resulting in the cancellation of their ration cards.

District Supply Officer Ajay Pratap Singh emphasized that individuals who file income tax returns are ineligible for ration benefits. Consequently, new beneficiaries have been introduced to replace those whose cards were canceled. The addition of 28,000 new units in Moradabad consists of workers who previously did not receive free ration benefits, ensuring that these individuals will now gain access to essential resources. The ration card quota is fixed, allowing for the replacement of ineligible names with eligible ones.

Currently, Gorakhpur has achieved a KYC completion rate of 74.85 percent, followed by Shravasti at 71.73 percent, Moradabad at 70.66 percent, Ambedkar Nagar at 70.58 percent, Mau at 70.18 percent, Sultanpur at 69.49 percent, Lalitpur at 69.48 percent, Lucknow at 69.07 percent, Sambhal at 68.74 percent, and Sant Kabir Nagar at 68.70 percent.

In the Moradabad division, Amroha ranks 25th in e-KYC completion with 66.96 percent, while Rampur is in 28th place with a completion rate of 66.51 percent.
