The Odisha government has come up with a new initiative to promote women empowerment – Subhadra Yojana. It is believed to be India’s largest women-centric scheme so far, which will benefit more than 1 crore women in the state.

What is Subhadra Yojana

Subhadra Yojana is an ambitious initiative of the Odisha government, named after Goddess Subhadra, the sister of Lord Jagannath.

Under this scheme, eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 will be provided financial assistance of ₹ 50,000 over the next five years (2024-2029).

This amount will be given in two installments every year at the rate of ₹ 10,000 per installment.

Benefits of Subhadra Yojana

Financial assistance: Getting an amount of ₹ 10,000 every year to eligible women will help them become financially empowered.

Self-reliance: This scheme will enable women to become financially self-reliant and take better care of their families.

Promoting digital transactions: The Subhadra card to be issued under the scheme will encourage women to make digital transactions.

Social inclusion: This scheme will benefit women from both rural and urban areas, thereby promoting social inclusion.

When will the installments be received

First installment: ₹ 5,000 on the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan

Second installment: ₹ 5,000 on International Women’s Day (March 8)

How to Apply for Subhadra Yojana

You can apply online or offline.

Offline application

Visit your nearest Anganwadi centre, service center, block office, urban local body office, or Common Service Center.

Get the free application form from there, fill it and submit it.

Online application

Visit the official website (subhadra.odisha.gov.in).

Click on the “Apply Now” button.

Fill in the required details (name, email, phone number, address).

Upload the required documents (Aadhaar Card, Birth Certificate, Photograph).

Click on the Submit button.
