Good news for state farmers. The Bihar government has decided to add an extra Rs 10 per quintal to the sugarcane price for farmers. This amount will be directly credited to the farmers’ bank accounts. While sugar mills will handle the necessary data and details, they won’t be involved in the actual payment process.

Farmers need to submit certain documents to receive this increased price. They must provide their bank account details, Aadhaar number, and date of birth certificate at the relevant sugar mill. The government aims to transfer the funds to farmers’ accounts before the financial year wraps up.

It’s important to note that during the Pragati Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced this additional payment. The Sugarcane Industry Department has already made budget provisions for it.

However, the Sugarcane Industry Department has received complaints from farmers about underweighing issues. Reports indicate that when sugarcane is weighed at the sugar mill gates and external purchase centers, the weights are often lower than they should be. Since not every location has a weighing machine, farmers are vulnerable to exploitation.

Sugarcane Commissioner Amit Kumar Jha has issued a warning to sugar mills to stop such practices. He has instructed them to ensure that farmers do not encounter any issues.

If farmers have any issues or complaints, they can reach out to the Sugarcane Commissioner by calling 9471007240. They can also get in touch with the Assistant Sugarcane Commissioner at 9471007242.
