The Indian government has rolled out a bunch of schemes aimed at helping its citizens. These initiatives are designed with the diverse needs of the population in mind. A significant focus is on empowering women, with various programs tailored to address their specific requirements.
Besides the central government, individual state governments are also implementing numerous schemes for women. Today, we’ll dive into the initiatives launched by the Modi government at the national level and explain how women can access these benefits from the comfort of their homes.
Prime Minister Ujjwala Scheme
Launched in 2016, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana aims to provide free LPG connections to underprivileged women across the country. Millions have already benefited from this initiative, and it continues to help poor women secure free LPG connections. To apply for the Ujjwala Yojana, a woman needs to have a BPL card. Eligible women can fill out the application form and submit it at their nearest LPG distribution center to take advantage of this scheme.
Suman Scheme
The Safe Motherhood Assurance Scheme, introduced by the Central Government and the Ministry of Family Welfare, is designed to support pregnant women. This program offers high-quality healthcare services to pregnant women and newborns at minimal costs. Under this scheme, pregnant women and sick newborns receive free treatment for up to six months post-delivery. Women from all backgrounds, including APL and BPL, can benefit from this initiative. To access these services, simply visit your local civil hospital.
Namo Drone Didi Scheme
The Namo Drone Didi Scheme was introduced by the Government of India in November of the previous year. This initiative aims to empower women linked to self-help groups by providing them with training that enhances agricultural practices. Various departments, including Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, and Fertilizer, along with major fertilizer companies, collaborate on this program. Additionally, the government offers financial support to women for acquiring drones as part of the scheme.
