The state govt takes a big decision to help people. There’s exciting news for residents in remote regions! The Regional Passport Office in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is set to introduce a mobile van service aimed at making the passport application process much easier. This van will travel directly to people’s homes or businesses to handle passport applications on-site. This initiative will not only offer significant convenience to those in distant areas but will also help alleviate the demand for appointments at the Passport Seva Kendra in Dehradun.
Get your passport delivered right to your door!
Regional Passport Officer Vijay Shankar Pandey mentioned that the main goal of the Passport Mobile Van is to deliver passport services directly to applicants. Many individuals in remote locations struggle to access the passport office and service centers. Our mission is to reach these communities. Currently, the service is in the trial phase.
The system will allow for five online appointments each day. If the trial proves successful, we plan to extend the service to more remote areas by coordinating with local authorities. This means residents won’t have to make repeated trips to passport centers or offices.
Passport Seva van equipped with advanced technology
Regarding the technology in the Passport Seva Vehicle, Regional Passport Officer Vijay Shankar Pandey explained that it includes a Biometrics Capturing Device. Additionally, the van can complete the verification of applicants’ documents. It is fully outfitted with modern technology, provided we receive a sufficient number of applications from the areas where the van will operate. Our aim is to extend our services to border regions.
