Last month, people in Delhi were looking forward to benefiting from programs like Ayushman Yojana and Mahila Samridhi Yojana. However, a recent move by the government has raised some concerns among the residents. The Delhi government has begun the process of e-KYC for ration card holders, which is thought to be necessary for issuing Ayushman cards and for transferring Rs 2500 to women’s accounts.
Reports suggest that without completing the e-KYC for their ration cards, Delhi residents won’t be able to access the benefits of the Ayushman Yojana, nor will women receive the Rs 2500. If this news has you feeling anxious, don’t worry! Completing the e-KYC is a breeze and can be done in just 2 minutes from your phone while you relax at home with a cup of tea.
When was the last e-KYC done?
As per the latest updates, e-KYC for Delhi’s ration card holders hasn’t been conducted since 2013. This verification should ideally happen every five years. Over the past 12 years, many changes may have occurred in the lives of ration card holders—some may have secured government jobs, while others may no longer be with us. Therefore, it’s crucial to update the ration card list. With the BJP now in power in Delhi, there’s a push to wrap up these pending tasks quickly.
Why is e-KYC important?
Many government schemes at both the central and state levels require documents like the Aadhaar card, ration card, or BPL card. If you’ve completed your e-KYC, it makes it much easier for the government to deliver the benefits of these schemes to you. On the flip side, if you haven’t done your e-KYC, you might risk having your government-provided rations cut off.
There’s also a belief that the Mahila Samridhi Yojana benefits will be allocated based on the ration card. If that’s true, it’s crucial to get this sorted out quickly. Right now, the Delhi government has set the deadline for e-KYC completion as March 31st.
