This year, Janmashtami falls on August 26, Monday, under a unique astronomical coincidence that has not happened for centuries.

The moon will rise at 11:24 pm in Mathura, completing the divine cycle of 5250 years of Lord Krishna and beginning the 5251st year. This rare coincidence has filled both astrologers and devotees with excitement.

Tradition of Chhath Puja

In Gokul, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, a unique tradition of Chhath Puja is observed a day before Janmashtami.

This ritual, dedicated to the welfare of the child, is believed to have originated from a story associated with Krishna’s parents, Nanda and Yashoda. The tradition is still observed with great reverence in Gokul.

Auspicious Yogas and Astronomical Alignments

Janmashtami 2024 is marked by a confluence of auspicious yogas and astronomical alignments. The day will see Jayanti Yoga, Baav Karan, Vrishabha Lagna, Rohini Nakshatra, and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga.

These astronomical combinations are believed to bring prosperity, success, and spiritual blessings.

Ashtami Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra

The auspicious time for Krishna Janmashtami begins on August 26 at 8:20 pm when Saptami Tithi ends and Ashtami Tithi begins. Rohini Nakshatra, which is associated with Lord Krishna, will also begin at 9:10 pm.

Astronomical Significance of Janmashtami

Lord Krishna was born in the Nishith Bela of Rohini Nakshatra on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapad month from the womb of Devaki, wife of Vasudev in Mathura in Kansa’s prison.

At that time there was Taurus Lagna and Rohini Nakshatra, The Moon was in the high zodiac. This year on Janmashtami, the Moon will be in Taurus and Rohini Nakshatra.

Along with this, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Gajakesari Yoga, and Shasha Rajyoga are also being formed.

Janmashtami this time on Chandravar

Pandit Amit Bhardwaj says that this time there is a high moon in Taurus, but it is not Wednesday, rather it is a strange coincidence that Janmashtami on August 26 is Monday.

Monday is also called Chandravar. This means that Lord Krishna’s birthday will be celebrated on his ancestor’s day i.e. Chandravar.

Along with Jayanti Yoga, there will also be Gajakesari, Shasha Rajyoga, and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga.
