Nandani Krishak Samruddhi Yojna Update: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh launched the Nandani Krishak Samriddhi Yojana in August 2023. Under this scheme, the government will provide 25 indigenous advanced-breed cows to farmers and cattle breeders to help them start dairy businesses. The total cost for setting up a unit of 25 milch cows is estimated at ₹62,50,000. The government will offer a grant of 50% of the total cost, up to ₹31,25,000, to the beneficiaries.
This initiative is part of the broader Nand Baba Milk Mission, which aims to increase farmers’ income, promote self-reliance, and encourage the use of indigenous breed cows. In addition to this scheme, the Uttar Pradesh government will also implement the Progressive Animal Husbandry Promotion Scheme and the Chief Minister Swadeshi Gau-Samvardhan Yojana under the same mission.
What is Nandani Krishak Samridhi Yojana 2.0?
Through the Nandani Krishak Samridhi Yojana or Nandani Krishak Bima Yojana, farmers’ incomes will be boosted by providing 25 indigenous breed cows, such as Sahiwal from Punjab, Tharparkar from Rajasthan, and Gir from Gujarat, to increase milk production in Uttar Pradesh.
Farmers who are permanent residents of the state will receive microloans and high-quality cows from cooperative societies under this scheme. Additionally, cattle rearers will be offered a favourable milk rate. This initiative will promote the use of indigenous breeds and is expected to be a milestone in strengthening farmers and cattle rearers financially, supporting them through the artificial insemination program, and contributing to the White Revolution in milk production.
