Know what is the new rule?

According to NPCI, if a mobile number is not used for three, i.e. 90 days, it will be delinked from the related bank accounts. This is to curb cases like fraud by increasing the security of the UPI system. Every day, many fraud cases come to light in India, which causes people’s savings to disappear.

Significant danger arising from inactive numbers

companies often distribute inactive numbers to new people, which causes problems. In such a situation, if the UPI account of the old user is linked to that number, then the new user can do the work of unauthorized transactions. Along with this, NPCI has decided to reduce the risk.

If, for some reason,   our mobile number is inactive and linked to your account, then you will not be able to use UPI services. This means you face problems making transactions on payment apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and  Paytm.

Know what to do

First, check with your telecom provider whether your number is inactive.

If the number is inactive for any reason, it must be activated again.

If the number cannot be activated, your bank account must be linked to a new and active number.

After this, NPCI has instructed banks and UPI platforms to update the list of inactive numbers weekly. This will ensure that the new rules are followed and incidents of fraud are curbed.
