US Visa: Positive developments for Indian students have emerged, as the United States has issued a significant number of non-immigrant visas for the second consecutive year. The influx of students from India to the US has been on a steady rise over the past four years, and with the recent increase in visa availability, this trend is expected to continue.

The US government has granted nearly 1 million visas in the year 2024, primarily benefiting Indian students. This marks the second year in a row that the US Embassy has issued such a substantial number of visas.

Non-immigrant visas are provided by the US government

India continues to be a leading source of international students, with approximately 331,000 currently studying in the US. Non-immigrant visas are provided by the US government on a temporary basis, and for the past two years, India has received the highest number of these visas, reflecting a 19 percent increase. By November of this year, over 2 million Indians had entered the US, representing a 26 percent rise compared to 2023. Notably, India accounted for the largest number of students studying abroad this year, with 331,000 individuals traveling to the US for their education.

H1B visa renewal

The H1B visa renewal initiative has also seen success, with 2 million Indians visiting the US in the last four years, a fivefold increase during this period. The government has permitted those residing in the US to apply for visa renewals.

According to the US Embassy, Indians currently hold more than 5 million non-immigrant visas, with thousands of applications being submitted daily. Additionally, the US mission has issued 240,000 passports to American citizens residing in India.
