Good news for farmers. The Ministry of Agriculture has just added 10 new items to the Electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform, which is fantastic news for farmers. There’s also a push from business folks and other stakeholders to see even more items included. In response, the Government of India has decided to expand the offerings on e-NAM.
This is a big win for both farmers and traders. The total number of items available on this government portal has now reached 231. The goal behind this expansion is to broaden the range of agricultural products, allowing both farmers and agri-businesses to benefit more from this digital trading platform.
Before making this move, there were extensive discussions with the Small Farmers Agriculture Business Association, agricultural experts, traders, and various agencies. The platform is designed to help farmers secure better prices for their goods while also contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector.
So, what are the new items? Previously, there were 221 agricultural commodities listed on e-NAM, and now with the addition of these 10 new ones, the total has gone up to 231. The new items include water chestnut flour, wheat flour, gram flour, dried basil leaves, baby corn, dragon fruit, dried fenugreek leaves, gram sattu, water chestnut, and asafoetida.
The e-NAM portal was created to help farmers secure a fair price for their produce. It allows farmers to sell their crops online, while traders can place bids to purchase them through the platform. This ensures that farmers have access to clear and transparent pricing.
You can find all these new products on www.enam.gov.in, where digital trading of agricultural goods takes place. Farmers will receive updates on the quantity and price of their sold crops directly on their registered mobile devices.
