The PAN, or Permanent Account Number card, is a crucial document provided by the Income Tax Department in India, essential for financial transactions and filing income tax returns. If you need to update personal details, like a name change, it’s important to ensure that your PAN card reflects these changes. If you’ve submitted a request to change your name on the PAN card, you can easily check the status of this update online. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you verify if your name has been updated on your PAN card.
Start by visiting the website of the organization through which you applied for the name change. For instance, if you applied via NSDL, go to the NSDL official site; if you used UTIITSL, head to their website.
Once on the site, look for the option labeled “Track PAN Status” or “PAN Application Status” and click on it.
When you applied for the name change, you should have received an Acknowledgement Number. You can use this number to track your application status. If you don’t have it, you can also enter your PAN number. After entering the required information and completing the captcha, click on submit. The status of your PAN card application will then be displayed on your screen.
If your name has been successfully updated, the status will indicate that the process is complete and a new PAN card has been issued. If the update is still in progress, the status will provide details about the current stage of your application.
Should the status confirm that your name has been updated, your new PAN card will be mailed to your address. Delivery typically takes a few days, so please be patient. Additionally, you may receive notifications via email or SMS.
