DA Hike Update: The central government has just announced a 2% hike in the dearness allowance (DA) for central employees and pensioners, raising it from 53% to 55%. This change will take effect in January 2025, meaning that employees will also receive arrears for January and February. Following this increase, state governments are gearing up to adjust their DA as well.

In line with this, the Rajasthan government is also making moves to boost the DA for its employees and pensioners. Reports suggest that before Ram Navami, the Bhajanlal government may raise the DA by 2% for around 8 lakh employees and pensioners, bringing it up to 55%. This adjustment will also be effective from January 2025, allowing for arrears from January to March. Currently, state employees and pensioners are receiving a DA of 53%.

It’s important to note that back in October 2024, the Bhajanlal government had already increased the DA for those under the 7th Pay Commission by 3%, raising it from 50% to 53%. This new rate was implemented starting July 1, 2024, and employees and pensioners received arrears for the period from July to October. Now, another DA increase is on the horizon for January 2025.

DA of 5th-6th Pay Commission employees was increased in December

1. After increasing the DA of the employees of the 7th Pay Commission in October 2024, in December 2024, the Bhajanlal government had increased the dearness allowance and relief of the employees and pensioners taking advantage of the fifth and sixth pay scales.

2. The DA of the employees of the Sixth Pay Commission was increased by 7 percent from July 1, 2024, after which the DA increased from 239% to 246%. The DA of the employees of the Fifth Pay Commission was increased by 12 percent, after which the DA increased from 443% to 455%. During this period, arrears from July to December were also given. Now the new rates are to be revised from January 2025, which is awaited.
