Everyone hopes for their advancement and progress. Meanwhile, central employees have also hoped for a salary increase. It is believed that the central government can soon give a big gift to the central employees. The central employees anticipate the government’s announcement of the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, slated for implementation in 2026.
If this happens, then a strong increase in the salary of central employees is considered possible. A few days ago, Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of All India Railwaymen’s Federation, expressed hope that the Modi government would announce the Eighth Pay Commission by January 2026. However, the government has refused to form the 8th Pay Commission after the financial budget. We cannot yet predict the government’s next move.
When was the 7th Pay Commission implemented?
In 2014, the central government formed the Seventh Pay Commission, which was decided to implement two years later in 2016. It reviews central government employees’ salary structure, allowances, and benefits and recommends changes.
On February 28, 2014, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh constituted the 7th Pay Commission. The commission submitted its report to the government on November 19, 2015, and its recommendations were implemented on January 1, 2016.
For information, let us tell you that the central government constitutes a pay commission to revise the salaries of government employees every 10 years. We expect to implement the 8th Pay Commission by January 2026.
We expect the minimum salary of government employees to increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 34,560 if the 8th Pay Commission accepts the demands of the employee union. If this happens, then the employees will be happy. Media reports consistently make such claims.
There will be no payment for DA arrears of 18 months.
The central government has already declined to pay the 18-month DA arrears, a decision that has come as a significant surprise to the employees. In COVID-19, the central government did not send the money for DA arrears from 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021, after which everyone was waiting. In the House, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary had clearly refused, rejecting the possibility of getting the money.
