EPFO: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has simplified the process for employees to update their personal information. With the recent changes, employees who possess an Aadhaar-validated Universal Account Number (UAN) can now modify their details without the need to upload any documents.

Update personal informations easily

If an employee’s UAN has been validated through Aadhaar, they can update various profile information, including their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, names of parents, marital status, spouse’s name, and joining date, without document submission. Previously, updating profile details in the EPF account was a complex and time-consuming process that required coordination through the employee’s employer. Now, company certification is only necessary under specific conditions if the UAN was issued prior to October 1, 2017.

Aadhaar and PAN are linked to their EPF account

It is also important for employees to ensure that their Aadhaar and PAN are linked to their EPF account, as this linkage is essential for any updates or withdrawals. Any discrepancies between EPF details and Aadhaar may lead to significant delays. The time required to update EPF account details can vary, depending on the employee’s company and the processing time of the EPFO.

Previous rules

Previously, updating information in the EPF account necessitated company verification, which could take up to 28 days. Currently, 45 percent of requests can be self-approved by employees, while 50 percent require only company approval, eliminating the need for EPFO involvement in many cases.
