Odisha Latest News: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced that an industrial park exclusively for women entrepreneurs will be set up in the state. Majhi participated in a session on women entrepreneurs empowered by the ‘Subhadra’ scheme on the second day of the ‘Utkarsh Odisha, Make in Odisha Conclave’ 2025. During the session, he also mentioned that a special cell for women entrepreneurs will be established in the Odisha Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation Limited (IPICOL).
Two Important Announcements
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said, “I want to make two announcements to promote women in entrepreneurship. First, the government has decided to set up an industrial park exclusively for women. Second, a special cell for women will be opened in IPICOL.” He expressed hope that these steps would encourage more women to start their businesses. He also invited suggestions from women entrepreneurs on ways to increase their participation in the business sector.
Better Employment Opportunities for Women
During the session, discussions were held on generating employment opportunities for women in Odisha. Through the Subhadra scheme, a blueprint will be created to shape the future of industries in the state. Additional Chief Secretary of the Industry Department, Hemant Sharma, said that Odisha already has the Subhadra Yojana, which aims to empower women. He added, “We want to connect Subhadra Yojana with entrepreneurship by providing women with the right platform to grow.”

What is Subhadra Yojana?
Subhadra Yojana is a women-focused welfare scheme launched by the Odisha government. It aims to empower women aged 21 to 60 by providing direct financial assistance. On the second day of the conference, sessions were held on various industries, including skills development, renewable energy, textiles and apparel, agriculture and food processing, tourism, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, industrial infrastructure (ports, airports, railways, and roads), and the film and media industry in Odisha.
