Fine imposed on toll operator

Indian Highway Management Company Limited has imposed heavy fines on toll operators in about 250 cases due to wrong or excess toll deductions from people’s toll accounts. Such toll operators, who deducted wrong or excess toll, have been fined Rs 1,00,000 per violation.

70 percent decline

After this heavy fine imposed by Indian Highway Management Company Limited, the number of cases of wrong toll deductions has been reduced by about 70%.

It has also come to light that about 30 crore transactions take place in the country every month through Fastag, and about 50 complaints are received every month.

Double deduction

Sometimes toll tax is deducted twice from the vehicle used for the same journey.

Wrong identification of the vehicle

Sometimes due to a glitch in the system, the wrong vehicle is identified. In such a situation, toll tax is deducted even for those vehicles that have not even passed through the toll plaza. Such cases occur due to technical flaws as well as system failure.

Deduction on the wrong entry

Due to the mistakes of toll workers, many times the vehicle does not pass through the toll plaza, yet the money is deducted. This happens due to a wrong entry by the toll operator.

Charging more fee

Many times more or wrong toll charge is collected at the toll naka than the fixed route or category.

How to get a refund

As soon as the wrong money is deducted from your Fastag account, you will have to immediately complain about this matter. After your complaint, the matter is investigated by IHMCL. In their verification process, if information about the wrong deduction of toll tax is received, then the refund is immediately given to the customers.

When such cases come to light, the toll operator who makes the mistake has to pay a fine of Rs 1,00,000. Such a heavy fine has been imposed so that such mistakes made by the toll operator can be reduced.
