When can it become invalid
After getting Aadhaar made for a child below 5 years of age, it is mandatory to update it at the age of 5 years. After this, when the child turns 15, it is necessary to update it once again. If the Aadhaar is not updated at both these ages, it may be considered invalid.
What happens in the update
In this process, the child’s fingerprint, iris scan, and photo are taken again so that their identity remains clear even in the future.
Why is it important to update on time
If you have not updated your Aadhaar card for 10 years, there is no need to panic. UIDAI has clarified that even such an Aadhaar card will remain valid. Nevertheless, the government advises that Aadhaar should be updated from time to time so that there is no problem in the future.
Aadhaar update is free for children
The government has made the process of updating Aadhaar for children completely free. No fee is charged for updating Aadhaar at the age of 5 years and 15 years.
Adults will have to pay a nominal fee
For updating Aadhaar for adults, a nominal fee is charged depending on the change in name, date of birth, address, mobile number or biometric. You can easily complete this process by visiting the Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
