The central government is working on 28 important schemes aimed at increasing farmers’ income. Through these schemes, farmers are not only receiving financial assistance, but they are also being encouraged to venture into entrepreneurship. The government’s goal is to increase both productivity and income by connecting the agricultural sector with modern technologies and innovations.

The government has also significantly raised the budget allocation for the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (DA&FW). This budget was ₹21,933.50 crore in 2013-14, which has been increased to ₹1,22,528.77 crore in 2024-25. This shows the government’s strong commitment to the overall development of farmers and the empowerment of the agricultural sector.

The main objective of these schemes is to assist farmers with the latest agricultural techniques, financial support, insurance coverage, horticulture, animal husbandry, organic farming, and agricultural infrastructure. In addition, the government is continuously working to provide more information and resources to farmers by connecting them to digital platforms.

The government is also focusing on increasing farmers’ productivity, reducing agricultural costs, and ensuring better prices for their produce. Direct market access, digital facilities like e-NAM (National Agricultural Market), and the promotion of agricultural startups are helping farmers get fair prices for their crops.

Through these government-run schemes, significant efforts are being made to make farmers economically strong and self-reliant. Below are the major schemes that can help increase farmers’ income:
