In such a situation, it is also our duty to protect the Aadhaar card. For the security of Aadhaar card, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has started Lock-Unlock feature (Aadhaar Lock & Unlock Features). By using this feature you can lock your Aadhar card.
Why is the security of Aadhar card important?
When we make Aadhar card, we have to provide biometric details like fingerprint, iris scan. It is very important to secure all these details. If we do not secure them, we may be at risk of fraud.
In such a situation, UIDAI has provided the facility to Aadhaar holders to lock their biometric details so that no other person can use the Aadhaar card.
Benefits of Aadhaar Lock-Unlock feature
The biggest feature of Aadhaar Lock-Unlock feature is that without the permission of Aadhaar holders, no other person will be able to use the biometric.
If biometric details have to be used then the Aadhar card will have to be unlocked first. Let us tell you that to use this feature, you must have a registered number.
How to lock Aadhaar
First of all you have to go to the official website of UIDAI (www.uidai.gov.in).
Now you have to select the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and select the option of ‘Lock/Unlock Biometric’.
After this you will have to select the tick box showing on the screen.
The tick box will read “I understand that once Biometric Lock is enabled, I will not perform biometric authentication until I unlock the biometric.
After this click on ‘Lock/Unlock Biometric’.
Now fill your Aadhaar number and captcha code after which select the OTP option.
After entering the OTP, you have to select ‘Enable Locking Feature’.
After this the biometric details of Aadhar card will be locked.
How to unlock Aadhaar biometric
First of all go to the official website of UIDAI (www.uidai.gov.in).
Now select the option ‘Lock/Unlock Biometric’ present in the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.
Now fill the Aadhaar number and captcha and select OTP, after which you will have to select ‘Unlock Biometric’.
After a few minutes the biometric details of your Aadhar card will be unlocked.
