Indian Railways: Following the incident at New Delhi Railway Station, Indian Railways has implemented significant changes aimed at enhancing passenger safety. If you are planning to embark on a journey from New Delhi Railway Station, this information is crucial for you. The update pertains to the revised rules governing entry and exit at the station, which have been put into effect immediately.

Revised the entry and exit protocols

Indian Railways has noted that a substantial number of individuals at the station are currently attending the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Passengers heading to the Maha Kumbh typically enter the station via the Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate entrances. This pattern was evident on the day of the unfortunate stampede incident. In response to this event, Indian Railways has swiftly revised the entry and exit protocols.

Latest information

According to the latest information from Indian Railways, in light of the influx of visitors for the Maha Kumbh, all special trains destined for Prayagraj will now exclusively operate from platform number 16, which has been designated for this purpose.

Previous rules

Previously, trains were dispatched from any available platform, leading to passengers dispersing across various platforms. However, the railway authorities have now established specific entry and exit points. Passengers boarding trains from platform number 16 are required to enter through the Ajmeri Gate.

Consequently, trains heading to Prayagraj will no longer be permitted to enter from the Paharganj side. Should passengers inadvertently approach from Paharganj, they will need to return to the Ajmeri Gate for proper access.
