Nenua Chana Making Tips: Are you looking for a delicious and nutritious sabzi? Then look no further! This Nenua Chana ki Sabzi recipe is made for you. The combination of spicy chickpeas with soft Nenua (sponge gourd) pieces makes for a wonderful dining experience. With this easy recipe, you can prepare a healthy and delicious sabzi in minutes!

Ingredients

Ingredients Quantity

For the vegetable

Nenua (sponge gourd)- 500 grams

Chana dal-  1 cup

Onion-   1 medium

Tomatoes –  2 medium

Green chillies-  2-3 (as per your choice)

Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tablespoon

Turmeric powder –  1/2 teaspoon

Coriander powder –  1 teaspoon

Red chilli powder-   1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)

Garam masala –  1/4 teaspoon

Coriander leaves,-   chopped for garnish

Oil 2 tablespoons

Salt to taste

Soaking the Chana Dal

Firstly, wash the chana dal thoroughly.

In a bowl, soak the washed dal in water for 6-8 hours or overnight.

Drain the excess water from the soaked chickpeas and keep them aside.

Cooking the Sabzi

Wash and peel the Nenua and then chop it into round or long pieces.

Chop the onion, tomato, and green chilies finely.

Heat oil in a pan.

Add cumin seeds and let them crackle, then fry the chopped onions till they turn golden.

Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 1 minute.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder and let the spices infuse.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook them till they turn soft.

Add chopped Nenua and soaked chickpeas.

Mix everything well and cook on medium flame for 5 minutes.

Add some water as needed and cover the sabzi and cook for 10-12 minutes or till the Nenua turns soft.

Keep stirring the sabzi in between.

Adding the Tempering

When the sabzi is cooked, add garam masala and salt as per taste.

Turn off the gas and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Tips

You can increase or decrease the amount of ginger and garlic in this recipe as per your preference.

If you want more gravy in the sabzi, you can add some more water.

You can serve this sabzi with roti, rice or paratha.
