To make farmers self-reliant and promote horticultural crop cultivation, the Bihar government is running a cluster-based horticulture scheme. Under this scheme, farmers will receive a subsidy for growing crops like guava, amla, lemon, vine, lemongrass, papaya, marigold flower, dragon fruit, and strawberry on land between 0.25 and 10 acres.
Farmers will get a maximum subsidy of Rs 1 lakh per acre for guava, amla, lemon, vine, lemongrass, papaya, and marigold flowers. For strawberry and dragon fruit, the maximum subsidy is Rs 2 lakh per acre.
The subsidy is provided in two instalments: the first instalment is 65% of the total amount, and the second instalment is 35%. In addition, non-raiyats (sharecroppers) can also benefit from the scheme for cultivating marigold flowers, strawberries, and papaya if they submit an agreement.
Which Farmers Will Get the Benefit?
To avail the benefits of this Bihar government scheme, farmers must meet certain conditions. They must grow selected crops on at least 0.25 acres (0.1 hectares) and up to 10 acres (4 hectares) of land.
For sharecropper farmers (non-raiyat), submitting an agreement in the prescribed format is mandatory. Additionally, farmers whose names are unclear in the land ownership certificate or revenue receipt must provide a genealogy certificate.
The scheme prioritizes women farmers, ensuring at least 30% of the beneficiaries are women to help them become self-reliant through horticulture.

Priority to Women and Small Farmers
The scheme ensures at least 30% of beneficiaries are women farmers, promoting their self-reliance in agriculture. Small and marginal farmers are also given priority to help them boost their income through modern horticultural practices.
A Big Opportunity for Farmers
This scheme aims to increase horticulture crop production in Bihar, helping farmers earn higher profits. Crops like guava, amla, lemon, bael, lemongrass, and papaya are profitable at low costs, while high-value crops like strawberry and dragon fruit can fetch premium market prices.
Cluster-based horticulture will not only reduce production costs but also improve crop quality with modern technology.
