The Yogi government has gifted free cylinders to Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries on the occasion of Holi. A budget of three billion rupees has been approved for this.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, women beneficiaries have received free LPG cylinders. The BJP had promised in its election manifesto to provide free cylinder refills to these beneficiaries on Diwali and Holi.

Last year, on Diwali, the Yogi Adityanath government fulfilled this promise by distributing free cylinders. Now, refill cylinders will also be given on Holi. There are more than 1.85 crore Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries in the state who can avail of this benefit.

Important Decision by Yogi Cabinet

In a significant decision during the Yogi Cabinet meeting on Monday, 19 important proposals were approved, including the removal of physical stamp papers worth Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 from circulation in Uttar Pradesh. The Stamp and Registration Department issued the related notification on Tuesday following this decision.

New Rule on Stamp Papers

Starting from March 11, non-judicial stamp papers worth Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 will no longer be valid for any kind of fee payment. The government has set March 31 as the deadline for using or returning the stamp papers of this value category that were purchased before the notification date.

Government Subsidy on Gas Cylinders

Under the Ujjwala Yojana, the central government provides a Rs 300 subsidy, while the state government gives an additional Rs 200 discount. This means that eligible beneficiaries can get an LPG cylinder for just Rs 500.

The Scheme Started in November 2023

The Yogi government first launched this free gas cylinder scheme on November 10, 2023. Last year, during Holi, 1.75 crore beneficiaries received free LPG cylinders. The subsidy amount is directly transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.

How to Avail the Benefits of This Scheme?

To avail the benefits, beneficiaries must complete their e-KYC for their gas connection.

  • Steps to Complete e-KYC:
  • Visit the official website of your LPG provider.
  • Provide the necessary details:
  • Gas consumer number
  • Mobile number & email ID
  • Passport-size photo
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Fill out and submit the form.
  • After verification, your e-KYC will be completed.

Once the e-KYC is done, eligible beneficiaries will receive the subsidy amount directly in their bank accounts.
