Business Updates: The number of new EPFO ​​members has declined

Due to the pandemic, the total number of new members joining EPFO ​​declined in 2020-21 and stood at 85,48,898. In the previous financial year i.e. 2019-20, 1,10,40,683 new members joined EPFO. In 2021-22, the number of new members joining EPFO ​​was 1,08,65,063.The total number of new members of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has declined by four percent to 1.09 crore in the last financial year 2023-24. This information has been given in a report of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation.

According to the EPFO’s ‘Payroll Reporting in India: An Employment Perspective – January to April, 2024’ report, EPFO ​​added a total of 1,14,98,453 new members in 2022-23. This number has come down to 1,09,93,119 in 2023-24. Due to the pandemic, the total number of new members joining EPFO ​​declined in 2020-21 and stood at 85,48,898. FPIs invested Rs 26,565 crore in Indian stock markets in June

According to depository data, foreign portfolio investors have invested a net Rs 26,565 crore in the Indian stock market in June. Vipul Bhowar, Director (Listed Investments), Waterfield Advisors, said, “Going forward, their focus will gradually shift towards the budget and the results of the first quarter of the current financial year.”After two consecutive months of selling, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have returned to the Indian stock market in June. Amid a strong rally in the stock markets, FPIs have bought shares worth Rs 26,565 crore in June.

Market capitalization of nine of the top 10 Sensex companies increased by Rs 2.89 lakh crore

Last week, the BSE Sensex of 30 stocks rose 1,822.83 points or 2.36 percent. The BSE Sensex has risen 7.14 percent in June. This is its best monthly growth. On Thursday, the Sensex crossed the 79,000 mark for the first time.The market capitalization of nine of the top 10 most valuable companies of the Sensex registered a jump of Rs 2,89,699 crore last week. Reliance Industries was the biggest gainer amid a strong rally in the stock market.

Market capitalization of these companies increased

In the last week, the market valuation of Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India (SBI), Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and ITC increased. Whereas the valuation of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) declined.

  1. The market capitalization of Reliance Industries increased by Rs 1,52,264.63 crore to Rs 21,18,951.20 crore.
  2. The market valuation of TCS increased by Rs 34,733.64 crore and reached Rs 14,12,845.09 crore.
  3. The market status of ICICI Bank increased by Rs 30,286.99 crore to Rs 8,44,201.88 crore. Whereas the market capitalization of Bharti Airtel increased by Rs 18,267.7 crore to Rs 8,22,530.35 crore.
  4. The market valuation of Infosys rose by Rs 14,656.3 crore to Rs 6,50,602.10 crore and that of HDFC Bank jumped by Rs 13,808.74 crore to Rs 12,80,865.43 crore.
  5. The market cap of State Bank of India rose by Rs 11,111.14 crore to Rs 7,57,565.68 crore.
  6. The market valuation of Hindustan Unilever rose by Rs 7,953.37 crore to Rs 5,81,570.83 crore.
  7. The market capitalisation of ITC rose by Rs 6,616.91 crore to Rs 5,30,475.82 crore.
  8. The market capitalisation of LIC fell by Rs 22,042.61 crore to Rs 6,25,573.90 crore.
