Bihar Ration Card: There is good news for ration card holders. The central government has once again extended the time limit for linking ration card with Aadhaar. On the other hand, Biharis living outside Bihar can also get e-KYC done. There is no need to come to Bihar for this.
Sitamarhi: The central government provides free ration to crores of people of the country every month under the Public Distribution System (PDS). The central government has extended the deadline for linking ration card with Aadhaar for beneficiaries taking ration under PDS by three months. This means that you will continue to get free ration.
It is necessary to link ration card with Aadhaar
The supply department has said that now the beneficiaries will be able to link the ration card with Aadhaar till 30 September 2024. According to the notification, either the ration card will have to be linked with Aadhaar within the stipulated time or the beneficiaries who do not have Aadhaar will have to apply for it and submit the proof. It is worth noting that in February 2017, the central government had made it mandatory to link the ration card with Aadhaar card to avail the benefits under PDS. If this is not done, free ration will not be available. To get free ration, e-KYC of ration card will have to be done.
Government’s step to prevent irregularities
The government has made e-KYC mandatory to prevent any irregularities in this scheme and to provide ration to the needy on time. Beneficiaries are being encouraged to link their ration card with Aadhaar card by the new deadline. For KYC, ration card number and Aadhaar number will have to be given at the public distribution system shop.
Benefits to people living in these states
The supply department has said that Bihar consumers living in other states except Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal can get e-KYC done by visiting the nearest dealer.
