Twitter is a popular social media platform where users share short messages, known as tweets, to communicate with others around the world. Whether you’re looking to stay updated with current events, connect with friends, or promote your business, Twitter can be a valuable tool.
Create a Twitter Account
- Download the app from the App Store or your computer.
- After downloading, sign up by clicking the Sign Up button. You will need to enter your name, phone number, and email address and create a password.
- You will receive a verification code on your phone. Enter it to verify.
- Look at your profile, cover photo, and short bio so that you will not have trouble understanding.
Twitter Interface
- When you see tweets, the people you follow are also in your group.
- Explorer sees your trending topics and hashtags.
- Notifications are those that tell you when someone is tweeting or following you.
- Messages is a section for private conversations with other Twitter users.
- Profile This area displays your tweets, followers, and who you’re following.
Follow Accounts
- Use the search bar to find people or organizations you’re interested in.
- Click on the Follow button on their profile. You’ll start seeing their tweets in your Home feed.
- If you no longer want to follow someone, visit their profile and click the Following button to unfollow them.
Send Tweets
- Click the Tweet button where you can write a tweet.
- A tweet is at least 280 characters long.
- You can add photos, videos, and media icons.
- You can use hashtags.
- You can also tag others.
- Click Tweet then Publish it.
Engage with Others
- Click the heart icon under a tweet to show you like it.
- Share someone else’s tweet with your followers by clicking the retweet icon.
- Respond to tweets by clicking the speech bubble icon. This starts a conversation.
- Click the share icon to send a tweet to your followers.
Stay Safe
- Avoid sharing sensitive personal information.
- Twitter has rules against harassment and abusive behavior.
- If you encounter inappropriate content or behavior, use the report feature to notify Twitter.
Make a Public List
- Create a list on your homepage and give it a name that’s relevant and kind, such as Current Events Journalists and Influencers.
- Add suitable Twitter accounts that fit the category.
- Sit back and brace yourself for notifications that you’re being followed by new people.
