New Scam Targeting Pensioners

Nowadays cybercriminals call pensioners and ask them to update their life certificates online. The surprising thing is that they have your complete data, such as date of appointment, date of retirement, pensioner payment order number (PPO number), Aadhar card number, permanent address, email ID, amount received on retirement, monthly pension, nominee, etc.

They call you with all this data so that you believe that you are talking to the Pension Directorate. Then they tell you all your data and ask you to share the OTP to update the life certificate.

As soon as you share the OTP received on the phone with them, the fraudsters get direct access control of your bank account.

After this, they immediately transfer all the money deposited in your account to other fake bank accounts or wallets. Therefore, you should always be alert.

Pensioners Need to be Aware About Life Certificate

The Pension Directorate never calls any pensioner to update their life certificate online nor is it updated online.

To avoid such fake calls, it is the responsibility of the pensioners to go to the Pension Directorate themselves and get their life certificates updated. Disseminate this information to as many pensioners as possible, so that they remain aware.

Central Government’s Strict Instructions to Banks for Life Certificate

To ensure that pensioners do not fall prey to any fraud, the Central Government has given strict orders to all the banks that if any sick pensioners cannot go to the bank, then in such a case the bank employees themselves will go to their home and submit their life certificate.

The pensioner does not need to go anywhere, if any sick pensioners are unable to walk, then the bank employees will go to the house of such pensioners and fill their life certificate.

Central Government Launches New Facility for Life Certificate

To ensure the comfortable life of Central Government pensioners, this department has developed a face-authentication technology system based on the UIDAI Aadhaar database in collaboration with UIDAI.
