MNREGA JOB : A decision has been taken to make permanent the employees engaged on contract basis under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act i.e. MNREGA. That means their job will be confirmed. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has recently taken a decision in the interest of the workers engaged in MNREGA. However, there is also a condition that only those employees who have worked continuously for 9 years in MNREGA will get its benefit. We will discuss this in detail in this post. How will the 9 year period be calculated?
According to the information received, the state government has started the process of making permanent the employees engaged under MNREGA contract. As per the terms and conditions, only those employees will be confirmed who have worked for 9 years or more. Along with this, the service period of other departments or schemes will also not be included in it. Let us tell you that this 9 year period will be calculated on the basis of April 1, 2024.
How many contract workers will be confirmed?
Instructions have been issued by the State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department to all the District Program Coordinators, EGS and Collectors of the state in this regard. It is mentioned that under Rule-20 of Rajasthan Contractual to Civil Post Rules 2022 issued on 11 January 2022, administrative approval for 4,966 regular posts created under the administrative control of Rural Development Department has been issued on 7 March 2024. According to these orders, contractual employees appointed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme, who have worked for nine years or more and have completed the work satisfactorily, will be selected. The work of checking their eligibility and document verification has been entrusted to the district level committee.
What is MNREGA scheme?
MNREGA scheme is a scheme which provides at least 100 days of guaranteed employment every year to the beneficiaries registered under this scheme. Workers in both urban and rural areas can avail the benefits of this scheme. The following works like construction of roads, canals, ponds etc. are included under MNREGA scheme. Under this scheme, registered workers are provided employment within a radius of 5 kilometers.
After applying under MNREGA scheme, the beneficiary worker gets work within 15 days. If we talk about wages under this scheme, then this wage amount is being given differently according to different states. And recently the MNREGA wage rate has also been increased, you can see the information about the increase from here. Talking about Rajasthan, MNREGA workers are being given a wage of Rs 266 per day.
