To make women self-reliant and financially stronger, the Modi government has launched a new scheme called “Bima Sakhi Yojana.” Under this scheme, women will receive an allowance of up to ₹7,000 per month. It is considered more beneficial than the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme.

What is Bima Sakhi Yojana?

Bima Sakhi Yojana is a scheme launched by the central government to provide financial security and employment opportunities for women. By joining this scheme, women will receive a monthly allowance and also have the chance to earn additional income by selling insurance policies.

Amount of Allowance

The Bima Sakhi Yojana offers different monthly allowances over three years:

  • First year: ₹7,000 per month
  • Second year: ₹6,000 per month
  • Third year: ₹5,000 per month

Eligibility for Application

To apply for this scheme, the female applicant must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must have passed secondary school from any recognized school or board.
  2. Must be between the ages of 18 and 70.

In addition to the allowance, women will also earn a commission for selling insurance policies under this scheme.

Current Progress of the Project

In just one month since the launch of Bima Sakhi Yojana, more than 50,000 women have applied. The allowance has already been sent to the accounts of 27,695 women. LIC has announced plans to recruit 2 lakh Bima Sakhis in the first year. Currently, 14,583 Bima Sakhis are selling policies.
