New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana on his 73rd birthday (17 September 2023). Addressing the nation from the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day this year, Prime Minister Modi announced the ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’ to benefit workers associated with traditional skills.
he Modi government has launched many public welfare schemes in its 9 years of tenure, which is benefiting the common man. PM Vishwakarma Yojana is also going to be one of them, which will benefit the workers associated with traditional skills and handicrafts. We are telling about 10 such welfare schemes of the Modi government, which the poor and economically weak people can take advantage.
A provision of Rs 13000 crore has been made under this scheme, which will be applicable for the next 5 years i.e. from 2023-2024 to 2027-2028. Under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, traditional artisans and handicraftsmen will get Vishwakarma certificate and identity card.
In the first phase, interest-free loan up to Rs 1 lakh will be available. In the second phase, loan up to Rs 2 lakh will be available with a concessional interest rate of 5 percent. No guarantee will be required for this.
Jan Dhan Yojana
Under this scheme, people living below the poverty line can open zero balance accounts in banks. The aim of this scheme is financial inclusion. It means connecting even the poorest of the poor people of the country to the banking system. Apart from cheque book, passbook, accident insurance, common people also get overdraft facility on Jan Dhan bank account. Under the overdraft facility, Jan Dhan account holders can withdraw up to Rs 10,000 even if there is no balance in their account.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana
The central government runs the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to provide financial assistance to small, micro and marginal farmers of the country in farming. Under this scheme, the central government provides financial assistance of Rs 6000 to the farmers of the country in a year. This money is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the farmer beneficiaries in three installments of Rs 2000 each. In this scheme, the eligibility of the beneficiaries is decided by looking at the land, source of income and some other parameters.
Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana
The Modi government started this scheme in March 2020. Due to the Corona epidemic, free food grains were provided to 80 crore people by starting this scheme during the lockdown. Through PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 5 kg of wheat or rice is provided free of cost to 80 crore citizens of the country every month. The central government has extended this scheme several times. At present, the benefit of this scheme can be availed till December 2023.
Ujjwala Yojana
The Modi government launched the Ujjwala Yojana in May 2016 with the aim of changing the lives of women in the country. Under this scheme, BPL card holders are given free gas connection and 12 gas cylinders are available in a year on subsidy. The subsidy is deposited directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. Ujjwala Yojana has 9.59 crore beneficiaries as of March 1, 2023. The central government has also announced plans to expand it, under which 75 lakh new Ujjwala LPG connections will be issued at a cost of Rs 1650 crore in 3 years from 2023-24 to 2025-26
Ayushman Bharat Yojana
Modi government has launched Ayushman Bharat Yojana with the aim of taking care of the health of the poor and economically weak citizens of the country. The government bears the cost of medicine, treatment etc. People eligible for this scheme can get their treatment done for free in government listed hospitals through Ayushman card. In this scheme, Ayushman card holders get the facility of free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. The central government is also running ‘Ayushman Bhava’ campaign to expand this scheme, under which Ayushman cards of eligible people are being made.
