PM Awas Yojana: After forming the government for the third time, the BJP-led NDA government in the first cabinet decision has approved government assistance to build three crore rural and urban houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The central government has been providing financial assistance to the people to build houses under this scheme since 2015-16.

PM Housing Scheme 2024: In the first meeting of Modi 3.0 Cabinet, it was decided that the government will build 3 crore houses in rural and urban areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In such a situation, people of the poor class who do not have a pucca house can apply to get benefits under this scheme to build a house.

What is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana?

All the homeless citizens of India are given a house by the Central Government under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the government helps in building a house by financially helping those who do not have their own house. On 25 June 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The main goal of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by the year 2023 was that every family living below the poverty line should have their own house so that they do not have to rent a house. Let us tell you that a target has been set to build 3 crore houses in the 3.0 tenure of Honorable Prime Minister Modi. Under this scheme, assistance amount will be given to provide houses to the poor and middle class homeless people of urban and rural areas.

Benefits of PM Awas Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAYG):- Under this scheme, assistance amount of ₹ 120000 is given to the beneficiaries. This amount is given to the beneficiary in three easy installments. After the application is approved, the first installment is given at the time of new digging of the house. The second installment is given when half the lintel is done and the third and last installment is sent to the beneficiary’s account when the full lintel is done. Along with this, the beneficiary is given a separate assistance amount of ₹ 12000 to build a toilet in his house.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAYU):- Under this scheme, the people of urban areas will be given one and a half lakh rupees by the government to build a permanent house. Using which the beneficiaries of urban areas will be able to build a permanent house. This money will be sent to the beneficiaries in their bank accounts in different installments. Along with this, the beneficiary is given a separate assistance amount of ₹ 12000 to build a toilet in his house.
