NEET-UG Retest Today: 1,563 candidates to appear; NTA, education ministry officials to be present at exam centres

The NEET-UG retest for 1,563 candidates is being held today, June 23, with National Testing Agency and Union education ministry officials present at the examination centres. Six students scored perfect 720 marks along with 61 others leading to allegations of inflation of marks.

NTA’s representative told the Supreme Court last week that in case candidates do not wish to take the re-exam, their score without the grace marks will be considered as final for NEET-UG. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan too rejected allegations of paper in medical entrance exam NEET-UG, saying there is no evidence of it. The step has been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the re-exam,” by senior NTA. The one in Chandigarh, where only two candidates will appear, will remain the same,” said the senior NTA official. “Besides, officials from the agency and the Union education ministry will also be present at these centres. The results will be declared by June 30. The centre late on june 22 facing flak over alleged discrepancies in competitive exams, shunted out NTADirector General Subodh Singh and handed over the probe into irregularities in medical entrance exam NEET-UG to the CBI.
