PM Awas Yojana: The objective of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) is to provide permanent houses to the poor families living in rural areas who are homeless and in kutcha houses. The main features of this scheme are as follows
Narendra Modi has come into action mode as soon as he took oath as the Prime Minister of India for a record third time. PM Modi today held the first cabinet meeting with the newly elected ministers included in his cabinet. In this meeting, he has decided to approve 3 crore additional houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).
Let us tell you that the Government of India has been implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana since the year 2015-16. Its objective is to provide assistance to eligible rural and urban families to build houses with basic amenities. Under PMAY, a total of 4.21 crore houses have been completed for eligible poor families under housing schemes in the last 10 years.
What is PMAY-G scheme?
All the houses constructed under PMAY are provided with other basic amenities like household toilet, LPG connection, electricity connection, functional household tap connection etc. through convergence with other schemes of the Central Government and State Governments.
On Sunday, Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for a record third time. 72 ministers were also sworn in along with him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. In a meeting over tea at his residence before the swearing-in ceremony, Modi told the ministers inducted into his third Cabinet that they have to start working on the ‘100-day programme’.
