PM-Kisan e-KYC Update: To make it easier for farmers to receive financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, the central government has introduced a face authentication feature. With this new feature, farmers can complete e-KYC by simply scanning their faces, without needing an OTP or fingerprint. This will be especially helpful for farmers in rural areas who do not have access to biometric devices or mobile OTP services.
Prime Minister Launches 19th Installment of PM-Kisan Yojana
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th installment of the PM-Kisan Yojana during a program in Bhagalpur, Bihar. Over Rs 22,000 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 9.8 crore farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Additionally, 2.41 crore women farmers benefited from this scheme.
What is the Face Authentication Feature?
The Face Authentication feature is a modern digital solution available through the PM-Kisan mobile app. With this feature, farmers can complete the e-KYC process using only their smartphones, without needing any additional devices. This will be particularly beneficial for farmers who do not have access to biometric machines or OTP-based verification facilities.
Benefits of the Face Authentication Feature
- Simplified e-KYC Process: Farmers can complete e-KYC by simply scanning their face without needing an OTP or fingerprint.
- Saves Time and Money: Farmers no longer need to visit the bank or Common Service Center (CSC), saving both time and money.
- Assistance for 100 Farmers: One farmer can help 100 others complete their e-KYC.
- Involvement of State Governments: State government officials can assist 500 farmers with e-KYC.
- Supports Digital India: This feature contributes to the vision of Digital India and helps farmers access government schemes more easily.
