Bengal Weather Update: Winter is nearly over in the state, and it’s warm enough that a light sheet will do the trick instead of heavy blankets. Tuesday morning in Kolkata felt pretty warm, with no chill in the air. The Alipore Meteorological Department predicts a slight rise in the minimum temperature for now, but it could dip again in a few days.
Rain and temperature updates
The Meteorological Department has mentioned that two districts might see some rain. Light showers are expected in Darjeeling and Kalimpong today and tomorrow, and there’s even a chance of snowfall in Darjeeling. Over the next couple of days, temperatures in Gangetic West Bengal could rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius, but the minimum temperature might drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
Kolkata’s temperature and humidity
Today, Kolkata is looking at a high of around 30 degrees Celsius and a low of about 21 degrees Celsius. The humidity levels are expected to range from a high of 93 percent to a low of 39 percent.
Weather in North Bengal
The weather in the North Bengal districts will mostly stay dry until February 16. However, light rain is still possible in Darjeeling and Kalimpong, with snowfall also on the cards for Darjeeling.
The temperature has really shot up in areas like Kolkata. By Thursday, we can expect it to climb another two to four degrees Celsius. But come Friday, things will start to cool down again. Over the weekend, temperatures are set to drop by two to three degrees Celsius, bringing that winter chill back to the district.
