Smart Meter : To stop electricity theft and make digital payments in Haryana, the Electricity Corporation has now speeded up the Smart Meter scheme. Due to this, its process has started in 10 districts of the state. The Electricity Corporation has placed tenders worth Rs 681 crore for Sirsa, Fatehabad and Jind circles. The work of installing smart meters at the headquarters level of Karnal, Panchkula and Panipat in the state has been completed.
Now the department will start the work of installing smart meters in other districts of the state as well. Tenders worth crores of rupees have been placed according to the circle. In smart meters, consumers will be able to monitor the meter through mobile. How will the smart meter work? The consumer can also get the meter pre-paid, that is, the amount of electricity he recharges, the same amount of electricity will be available. The power supply will stop as soon as the recharge is over. If the consumer does not want to take advantage of the prepaid scheme, then like a normal meter, the electricity bill will keep coming on the consumer’s mobile number and the consumer will be able to get electricity supply by paying it like the present.
