Three Big Changes in Law: Recently many important changes have been made in the Indian Penal Code and the Indian Evidence Act. These changes have come into force across the country from 00 July 2024.
Let us know in detail what effect these changes will have on the common man and what improvements will be made in the police system
Comprehensive training for police officers
For the last 14 days, extensive training has been given to police personnel in the police line in Bareilly to effectively implement the new law.
More than 3500 policemen participated in this training, including everyone from station heads to clerks, lawyers, and constables. The system of registering reports under the sections of the new laws started after midnight on Sunday.
These will be the changes in registering FIR
However, the crime number will not change with the implementation of the new law. The next number in the same order as was going on earlier will be used.
Officials say that PDF copies of the new law have been sent to all police stations. So that if someone does not know the sections, the clerks can enter the correct section by looking at the PDF.
Changes in CCTNS as well
Changes have also been made in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) as per the requirements of the new law.
Now as soon as sections are imposed in a case, CCTNS will directly send a message of information related to that section to the mobile of the concerned police station in charge.
For example, in every case with a sentence of more than ten years, the field unit will now go to the scene of the incident.
The new definition of victim
Nodal officer Shivraj, appointed about the new law, said that now the word victim has also been defined in the Indian Penal Code. In the old law, only the person with whom the incident happened was considered a victim.
But now in the new law, the family or parents of the person with whom the incident has happened will also be considered a victim. Any of these people can file an FIR.
Mobile got legal recognition
Nodal officer Shivraj said that under the new law, mobile has been given recognition in a way. Videography done from mobile is now considered a part of law and order.
Now after the incident, videography of the scene of the incident will be done. Apart from this, videography of all things like arrest, statement, recovery, search operation, etc. If a person comes to the police station in an injured state, then his videography will also be done.
Now the video made from mobile will be valid
He further said that now the video made from mobile will also be valid. Apart from this, now the mobile number of the family of the accused will also be recorded at the time of arrest.
After the arrest, the message of arrest can be sent directly to the number of the family of the accused. Now it will have to be told in the court whether there is any electronic evidence in the case.
FIR can also be registered through WhatsApp and Telegram, email
Under the new law, no FIR can be registered from anywhere in the country. The software has been designed in such a way that the FIR registered will be automatically transferred to the concerned police station based on the incident spot.
