10 years of Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana have been completed. And the Prime Minister has expressed his happiness on the completion of 10 years.
The Prime Minister congratulated the completion of 10 years of this scheme through his post on social media platform X.
While sharing the post, the Prime Minister wrote that today we are celebrating the important occasion that 10 years of Jandhan Yojana have been completed.
Congratulations to all the beneficiaries and to all those who worked to make this scheme successful.
Jandhan Yojana is working towards promoting the girl child community and honouring crores of people specially women, youth and marginalized communities.
Accounts opened in last 10 years:
53.13 crore accounts have been opened in last 10 years and beneficiaries have got full benefit out of it. Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmila Sitharaman had also talked about this scheme on Tuesday.
She said that in the last 10 years, 53.13 crores worth of food grains have been opened for the poor in which 2.3 lakh crore rupees have been deposited.
Further, Finance Minister Nirmila Sitharaman said that our target is to open 3 crores worth of PMJDY accounts during the current year. He further said that PMJDY is one of the biggest initiatives for girls in the world.
Launch of Jandhan Yojana
Jandhan Yojana was launched on 28 August 2014. Jandhan Yojana is one of the many beneficial schemes of the central government whose benefits are being received by the poor and deprived families of the country. On 28 August, this scheme has completed 10 years.
Under this scheme, the government is succeeding in connecting the poor and deprived sections of the country to the banking system. Along with this, the benefits of social security scheme are being delivered to direct beneficiaries through direct bank transfer or DBT.
Overview of the scheme
Pradhanmantri Jandhan Yojana is a national welfare scheme which ensures access to banking, savings, deposit accounts, insurance and pension.
Necessary documents for opening an account
- If Aadhar card number is available then no other proof is required.
- If Aadhar card is not available then any government document like identity card, Aadhaar card, driving license, PAN card, passport or MNREGA card. any one of these is required.
- If a person does not have any of these then he is rejected under the category of low risk.
Benefits associated with this scheme
- Interest on deposit amount.
- Accident insurance cover of Rs. 1 lakh.
- No minimum balance amount is expected.
- Easy transfer of Jan Dhan amount across India.
- Access to pension insurance products.
- Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Insurance Scheme, life insurance of Rs. 30000 will be given to the beneficiary on his death as compensation for normal circumstances.
Today, on completion of 10 years of this scheme, the Prime Minister said that this scheme has been supreme in giving respect to women and youth.
