UGC Scholarship: A big news has come for postgraduate students under the National Scholarship Scheme (NSPGS). The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the merit list of NSP scholarship for 2023-24, under which a total of 10,000 students will be provided financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh annually. Out of this, 5,000 students have been selected from Science and 5,000 students from Humanities.
NSPGS Scheme: 10,000 students will get Rs 1,50,000
Under the NSPGS scheme, 10,000 scholarships are given every year, which includes equal number of scholarships for science and humanities students. An annual fee of Rs 1,50,000 will be provided to the students for 2 years. This scholarship is given to students who are pursuing their first postgraduate degree course in India.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for NSPGS is that only students who are enrolling in their first postgraduate course in regular, full-time mode can apply. Students who have already obtained a postgraduate degree will not be eligible to apply.
Also, the age limit of the student should be below 30 years as per NSPGS. If students are enrolling in integrated programs, they get scholarship only for postgraduate courses.
Documents Required for Scholarship
The selected students have to submit the following documents to receive the scholarship:
Mark sheets and certificates from class 9 to present.
Provisional or final admission letter to postgraduate course.
Aadhaar card, voter ID, passport, PAN card, or driving license.
Bank passbook linked to Aadhaar (so that the scholarship amount can be transferred directly to the student’s account).
Fee receipt number and enrollment number.
Information on the disbursement of funds and further procedures will be provided from time to time on the UGC and NSP portals. Financial assistance under NSPGS will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
