Best Budget Phone Under ₹5,000: The Lava Z1s is a budget smartphone that was launched in January 2022. The device is designed while keeping in mind the budget-maintained customers. The device comes with very basic but reliable features like a 5 MP rear camera, 2 GB RAM, and a 3100 mAh battery.

It will provide basic functionality related to day-to-day usage. It runs on Android v11 and is intended for customers who do not need a high-powered device for heavy usage but a no-frills gadget for calls, some basic apps, and light usage of multimedia.

Performance and Operating System

The Lava Z1s draws its power from an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and provides decent speed to handle basic multitasking.

Equipped with the Android v11 operating system, modern apps, as well as security updates, are pretty much within reach.

Accompanied by 2 GB of RAM, this smartphone will manage general activities without any hassle such as web browsing and social media; however, it may lack great performance on heavy-duty applications.

Display and Design

The smartphone is also packed with a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display with a pixel resolution of 720×1600 pixels (HD+), which should hopefully present clear visuals for its size.

A pixel density of 351 ppi will keep the image quality decent enough to watch videos or view photos on it.

Measuring 56.44% screen-to-body ratio, this gadget has a compact dimension of 146.5 mm in height, 73 mm in width, and 10.4 mm thick.

The Lava Z1s measures 187 grams and is available in a choice of two color variants, namely Blue and Cyan.

Camera Features

The rear camera is a single 5 MP shooter, which also includes an LED flash and HDR mode for better picture quality.

Lava's customisable, upgradable smartphones, Lava Z1, Z2, Z4 and Z5 launched in India, pricing starts at Rs 5,499 – Firstpost

It features Digital Zoom and the image resolution is 2592 x 1944 pixels.

For video recording, it has 720p resolution at 1280×720 fps for the rear and 2 MP front camera.

The front camera is also equipped with an LED flash, helpful for low-light selfies.

Battery and Charging

Lava Z1s equips a 3100 mAh Li-ion battery, which is removable.

It provides users up to 36 hours of talk time on 4G and as many as up to 475 hours of standby time on 2G.

While it misses out on a USB Type-C port, it offers charging through the support for a microUSB port.

Storage and Expandability

It does carry internal memory of 16 GB that is considered less for the current smartphones.

Storage is expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card, providing ample space in case the user likes to store a lot of photos, videos, or apps.

It also features USB OTG support, which means users can connect their external storage devices to the phone just for the ease of data transfer.

Connectivity and Network Support

The Lava Z1s also supports dual SIMs, where both SIMs support 4G LTE in India.

Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (Wi-Fi 5), Bluetooth v4.2, GPS with A-GPS, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

FM radio is also supported hence this should be a good option for those who like to listen to radio broadcasts.

Multimedia and Sensors

The Lava Z1s has a loudspeaker and supports multimedia playback for convenience in music and video consumption.

Sensors on the device include a light sensor, proximity sensor, and accelerometer but exclude a fingerprint sensor.

Price

The Lava Z1s has been positioned as an inexpensive smartphone and thus comes out to be a good option for economically priced buyers.

It came at a launch price of about ₹5,699 and was thus decently competitive in the entrant category of smartphones.
